Hukanui School in Hamilton was presented their GreenGold Award by Associate Minister for the Environment, Hon Nanaia Mahuta, in a celebration at the school on Friday 26th May. Also present at the Award presentation was local MP David Bennett, Councillors and staff from Environment Waikato and Hamilton City Council, representatives from the University of Waikato, Landcare, Te Mauri Tau, Environment Centre, and student representatives from Peachgrove Intermediate and Fraser High.
Students from Hukanui's envirogroup organised and ran the day, welcoming the guests with their school song and describing all the great projects they are involved in within the school. The group also took the guests on a tour of their school, showcasing many of the environmental projects and initiatives.
