Congratulations to award winners

from enviroschools across New Zealand
Staff and students from enviroschools are increasingly featuring in both national and local environmental awards.

Otahuhu Intermediate School students won the "Young people making a difference" category of the MfE's 2005 Green Ribbon Awards for their work in restoring Otahuhu Creek and educating their community. Another enviroschool - Kimbolton School in the Manawatu - was highly commended for the work their "Green Team" in caring for Kimbolton Bush.

In the Auckland Regional Council's Environment Awards 2005 teachers and students from enviroschools made a clean sweep in the schools and youth categories.

The Environmental Leadership Award: for a teacher who has inspired young people to care for the environment. This was jointly won by Leigh Steele from Pigeon Mountain School and Maureen Robertson from Verran School. Paul Barker from Kauri Park School was a finalist.

The Environmental Guardians of the Future Award : for a group or individual who has made a major contribution to an environmental project in their school or community. Students from Papakura Normal were the winners for their ‘Living Garden’ project.
