Martinborough School students (and parents) were pretty disappointed when it turned out that the appropriate place for their new classroom was the old school garden!
Martinborough School has been famous for it gardens for as long as anyone can remember. You name it, they grew it and then harvested it for the school cafeteria. But along came the new classroom and the students had to remove the old garden.

Not happy to sit back and accept this state of affairs, the students took the opportunity to combine their new gardens with the design of an outdoor classroom. They used some money they had received from the DHB and worked with a masters student specialising in participative landscape design to create this amazing new space.
