There are 14 Enviroschools in the Gisborne region. That's a total of 2,726 students.
Schools in Gisborne are coming up with creative ideas to help their school environments. From worm farms and litter free lunches to river side plantings and a forest for life!

Three schools from Gisborne took part in the EcoHut Challenge; Whatatutu, Makauri and Ngatapa Schools.
Groups of students from each school researched, designed and built their idea of an EcoHut on their school grounds!

St Mary's school in Gisborne have planted around 100 native trees on their school grounds, in the hope of attracting native birds, as well as providing a peaceful area for children to eat their lunch and examine the nature around them.
